Measuring your horse correctly, but how...?

In our step-by-step guide we show you how to measure your horse, or your rug or saddle pad, in the best way. If you are working directly on the horse, an extra pair of helping hands is an advantage. Use a flexible tape measure. Please feel free to contact us with any questions – we are happy to advise you on every point. At the end of this page you will find our standard sizes, which fit most horses. But we are just as happy to make the perfect rug to your horse's exact measurements – at no extra charge.

Horse rugs

Back length (A)
Measure from the highest point of the withers to the base of the tail, or to the point where the rug should end. Lay the tape measure along your horse's spine.

Overall length (B)
Measure from the centre of the chest to the rear end of the horse, below the points of the buttocks.

Side depth (C)
Measure from the lowest point of the back to the lower centre of the belly, or to the point where the rug should end. Ideally it ends below the elbow joint, in the upper third of the forearm.

Neck width (D)
Measure from the withers to the base of the neck at the bottom.

*Our standard sizes can be found at the end of this page.*
